Hi Sallie, The best place to get advice on old knives is a gun & knife show. That's where you can find some old timers who may have the answers to your questions. I sell only new barlows, and don't know much about the old ones. For a general history of the barlow style knives, you can go to http://www.barlow-knives.com/history.htm They were originally made in the 1600's.
Hi, tomturkee. I was beginning to think nobody ever came to this place anymore. I guess nobody knows anything about Barlow knives. I guess we will have to look elsewhere for our information. If you have a photo of your knives, I would LOVE to see it. If you want to e-mail me, the address is: witchvette@hotmail.com I promise to answer your e-mail. I don't know squat about Barlows either, but at least I would reply. Hey, I might even go to my e-mail place and send you a message anyway. Have a nice day!.......Switch

Just picked up a Russel Barlow fish scaling knife, looks to be almost unused. Has the "R" over the arrow. Also, on one side of the blade it says "stainless" and on the other side it says: Western Massachusetts Companies. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,.....Switch

If there is anyone that can help me, I would appreciate it greatly. I would like to know model and year manufactured. I've in my possecion for 35 years, a Barlow-knife (pocket), belonged to family member prior to my ownership. Please contact me or otherwise direct to me to who I can contact, to whom can advise me in antique knives. Thanks.
